PW Back caps

A back cap seals the rear of your TIG torch. It holds the electrode in place, keeps dirt and moisture out of the torch head and takes the knocks a torch inevitably gets in the workshop. It is a small part you only notice when it is missing or broken, and then your job comes to a standstill.

These back caps fit WP9/20 and WP17/18/26 torches. You choose the length yourself, so you can use the electrode the way you prefer:

• Small is meant for tight work, where you have little room behind the torch. You shorten the electrode to suit.
• Medium is the standard choice for everyday welding.
• Large gives you room for a full-length electrode, without having to cut it down.

A back cap wears out through heat and use, so it pays to always keep a spare. If you want a version that will not break when dropped, take a look at the TIGWARE Teflon back caps.
